Old bus shelter, Lambourn Road service road
The bus stop sign has been removed from the post, but the shelter remains. No doubt this is much appreciated by the local teenagers. Nearby, on the other side of the local inn, a new bus shelter and stop have been installed. See:- Image

Bus shelter - or GWR relic rediscovered?
If I'd recognised this for what it once was, I'd have taken a more informative photograph. It was days later, looking through the Geograph database, that I found this image from Ben Brooksbank's unique archive: Image
Ben's 1963 photo was taken just a couple of hundred yards (as they'd have said at the time) further north. The little shelter on the platform has a fancy barge-board (with a pinnacle) at the gable-end - features very typical of Victorian signal-boxes and station buildings. Those features are hard to make out in my contribution, but this photo from PL Chadwick shows the barge-board and a blanked-off window - enough, I think, to clinch the identity: Image
I notice that in the eight years since PL Chadwick's photo, the pinnacle at the left-hand end has gone missing. The little structure is plainly at risk from vandalism - perhaps even from a high wind. I'm wondering whether the GWS at Didcot might find it a new home . . .

The Bell at Boxford (2), Lambourn Road
The main bar is located in the earliest part of the building, which dates from the 17th century. The inn is unusual in having a ghost with a name, who occasionally makes his presence felt in the cellar, and in the public bar. He is Mr Merritt, whose family owned the inn about 200 years ago.

There appear to be at least four of what look like security cameras, clustered around the sign. It seems slightly over the top, but maybe Boxford is a hive of criminal activity?
