Reading Waterfest
This annual event makes good use of an unknown part of Reading's waterways. This is the River Kennet past the former Huntley and Palmers biscuit factory, which was to the left. The island is called Chocolate Island, preserving its heritage. Above the boats and the many craft stalls can be made out the walls of Reading prison.

Statue on Chocolate Island
The statue was erected about 20 years ago when the Huntley and Palmers factory closed, to represent a well-known Reading fisherman, one of the "ordinary people" of Reading. Critics have questioned his position at the head of the island where the stream would have been least good for fishing. Vandals have long since broken off his rod.
