Corner of Station Road
The building has been refurbished and the only parts which are original are the recess and the date plaque above. Mind you the chimney looks old as well.

Friar Street. Reading
Some of Reading's relatively old contrasts with its new. The new is two hotels, the Novotel and Ibis, which presumably cater mostly for business customers. The old is on the corner of Station Road and is dated 1905. Nowadays it houses a branch of the Nationwide Building Society.

Friar Street, looking west
The snow seemed to particularly affect Northern Hampshire and Berkshire on this evening. Friar Street, Reading's second main town centre thoroughfare, is normally packed with people and buses in the evening peak. However, gridlock elsewhere meant that nothing was getting back to the town centre so people had the street to themselves.

Novotel hotel
Relatively new in the last couple of years and built on the site of the old cinema that was there and the Blue Boar pub. The Hotel Ibis is next door to it.
