Hospitium of St John the Baptist
Former Hospitium of St John the Baptist. Guesthouse and Alms Houses associated with Reading Abbey and built in the late 15th Century. The main building of the hospitium survived this demolition, and after various other uses, has now been incorporated into an office development, and is occupied by a children's nursery. To Honour the memory
Seventy years to the day and a memorial to the people who died in a bombing raid on Reading is unveiled. Though many people welcome this I do think the plaque is a bit of an after thought and does the memory no justice. You can read my blog on it here. http://spuduka.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/10th-febuary-1943.html

More marks
More marks from what I assume is shrapnel damage from the bombing raid in 1943 can be seen near the doorway to St Laurence in Reading.

Wreaths under the plaque
Wreaths laid in memory of the people killed in a bombing attack in Reading, the building the plaque is placed on was almost totally destroyed in the attack and some people lost their lives there. http://spuduka.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/10th-febuary-1943.html

A piece of Shrapnel?
On looking around St Laurence's Church at the shrapnel damage, I can't help wondering if this is one of the pieces embedded in the stone.
