Chapel Street station - entrance
The present entrance to the station on Chapel Street, dating from the 1980s, is boring and uninviting. The original entrance with its porte cochere has not been pictured on this site yet but can be seen on Flickr at http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3184/2967664352_4045a4cdc0.jpg . The street was pedestrianised in 2007.

Woolworths Closed
The main Chapel Street entrance to the former Woolworths stored, closed in December 2008 and still unoccupied July 2009. The recession must be biting hard as even the Bargain Book Store next door is closing down.

Chase Menswear, Chapel Street
The half-timbered building stands out from the other shops on Chapel Street, but I have not found out its history - it is not listed, at any rate.

Chapel Street, Southport
Although Lord Street is better known, pedestrianised Chapel Street is home to many of Southport's larger shops - particularly branches of the major national chain stores. The day after this picture was taken, it was announced that the receiver could not find a buyer for Woolworths and that all of its branches would be closed.
