I think that this church may have been the former Moor Road Primitive Methodist Church, established in 1893 (http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Chorley/churches.html )

Steam Engine, ex British Leyland, Chorley
This was built as a weaving shed in 1914 but due to WWI was never used as such. Following the cessation of hostilities it was bought by Leyland Motors. Latterly owned by British leyland Parts, the engine was kept in good condition until its removal for preservation in 1988. It is still in store. It was built by Clayton, Goodfellow of Blackburn and was typical of their production. It was of about 600 horsepower. It was especially interesting as it drove a big dynamo with electric drive to the machines. In contrast to the more usual lineshaft drive by ropes.

Dynamo, ex British Leyland, Chorley
Apologies for the lousy picture. Flash was a thing of the future for me in 1980. This was driven by a 600 horsepower mill engine by ropes - see Image This was an amazing survival and is now in store. I hope that it may all eventually reappear.

Former British Leyland, Chorley - rotary converter
This was a cotton mill that had never been used as such and was latterly owned by BL. The site has since been flattened. The motive power was a cross compound steam engine driving a large dynamo with DC drives to the individual machines. The whole place was an amazing survivor. This is a rotary converter that could convert grid AC to DC for the mill if the main engine wasn't running. Some of the last of these were in Fleet Street, London to drive printing presses before the newspappers all decamped and/or modernised.
