Botany Bay
So called because you could step off dry land here and step ashore in Botany Bay, Australia. You would, of course, need to transfer from barge to ship in Liverpool docks at the end of the canal.

Lock & Quay
The Lock & Quay public house at Botany Bay, near Chorley. The pub was originally called the Railway after the railway viaduct which crossed the canal here until being demolished in 1968, immediately prior to construction of the M61 motorway.
