The Dressers Arms, Wheelton
The Dressers Arms is on Briers Brow, just off the A674 at Wheelton. According to the pub’s website (http://www.dressersarms.co.uk/ ) it began life as a hostelry in the 1700's. At that time, it was a one-room pub serving the thirsts of workers from the nearby Slate Delf Quarry after a hard day dressing stone and hence its name. In the 1960's it was reported to be the smallest pub in Lancashire having just a beer licence to sell one beer and a mild. Towards the end of the 60's the pub was extensively refurbished and enlarged.
