WD 2-8-0 on empty coach train at Kirkham & Wesham
View NW, towards Blackpool and Fleetwood, Kirkham & Wesham Station being to the right. (See Image for details). The use of an ex-War Department 2-8-0 (No. 90645) on such a working was due to the very heavy Blackpool Illuminations traffic - note the Reporting Number chalked on the smokebox.

Wesham Fire Station
A one-engine fire station at Medlar-with-Wesham, which forms part of the Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service. Before the war there two fire stations covering the area, one in Moor Street Kirkham and one at Derby Road Wesham, each being run by separate local authorities. The station area covers approx 14,394 hectares with a population of 25,454. The major fire risks are Her Majesty's Prison at Kirkham, the Army Camp at Weeton, the remaining parts of Wesham Park Hospital, Kirkham Grammar School and Fox’s Biscuits. The station opened operationally on Friday 4 October 1991. The fire appliance is a Leyland Pump Ladder.
