Industry at Oakenclough
The chimney and sheds seem out of place nestling in Calder Vale at the foot of the Bowland moors. Unlike the South Pennines, Bowland largely escaped the industrialisation that blighted many of the river valleys.

Oakenclough Mill
The big industrial building at Oakenclough with a tall chimney was a paper mill. It is still in industrial use and this part is home to Merit Animal Feeds who no doubt service the dairy industry found downhill from here in wet and grassy Lancashire.
