Centenary Mill, Preston
Built 1895 for Horrockses, Crewdson & Co Ltd. RSJ framing and concrete floors. The engine house (not visible in this view) contained a Musgrave horizontal four cylinder triple expansion engine with cylinders 24.25", 36" & 40" (2) x 6' stroke. It was of about 2000 horsepower and drove by ropes. Now converted to apartments with the engine house forming a huge and empty lobby and access up through the rope race.

The engine house (extending to the right in front of the chimney) contained a Musgrave horizontal four cylinder triple expansion engine with cylinders 24.25", 36" & 40" (2) x 6' stroke. It was of about 2000 horsepower and drove by ropes. Now converted to apartments with the engine house forming a huge and empty lobby and access up through the rope race.

Out of sight to the right behind the green railings, another mill has been demolished and replaced with a housing development. Note the cobbled street that can still be found in the north west.

A well-preserved former cotton mill in brick and stone including a detached chimney. "In the first generation of mills with rolled-steel beams and concrete floors". Built for Horrocks, Crewdson & Co. in 1891-96. Grade II listed. Now flats.
