Union Street, Preston
One of only a few 'cobbled' streets still left in the city centre. Everyone calls them cobbles but they are technically setts https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sett_(paving) rather than cobblestones https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobblestone The road is very narrow. There is a 'no entry' sign on Friargate which prevents vehicles using this road as a shortcut. The building on the right in the foreground is Union Court. It has its construction date marked rather elaborately upon it as can be seen here Image

Old Black Bull, Friargate, Preston
By Garlick & Sykes, c1900. Timbering above a green terracotta and tiled ground floor (Image]). For some reason green is invariably the chosen colour for pubs. Grade II listed.

A583, Friargate
The old and direct route from Preston to Blackpool starts here on the junction with the A59 ring road. Originally it started in the centre of Preston before the top end of Friargate was pedestrianised. The Old Black Bull on the corner is a former Boddingtons House now owned by Greene King. It opened in 1805 and the first landlord was Richard Leach http://pubsinpreston.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/black-bull-inn-35-friargate.html Signs: Image
