Preston's market canopy dates from 1875. It was restored in 2016, with the new glass and steel structure beneath it opened in 2018.

Markets, Market Street, Preston
The further structure is the earlier, by Garlick, Park & Sykes, 1870-5, the five year duration explained by its collapse during construction and the ensuing disputes. The nearer, the fish market, is early C20th.
