The Mill Pond
The road from Ryde to Newport crosses Fishbourne Creek here. To the south of the road, here, the creek has been dammed. Water can be let in on an incoming tide, and kept in as the tide falls then used in a controlled way by the mill. The area is actually called the Mill Pond.
