Quarr Abbey
This is part of the remains of the former Cistercian abbey that was closed during the dissolution of the monasteries in 1536. Much of the stone from the abbey was used to build properties in Ryde and elsewhere, and it is probable that the building to the left, which is more modern, also used that stone.

Insect on Bramble Flower
I thought this must be a hoverfly of some sort, but it doesn't match anything in my book, so I need some help to identify it.

Bramble (Rubus sp)
There are, apparently, something like 400 (sub-)species of Bramble (Rubus fruticosus). I have not previously seen pink flowers on a Bramble.
