Columbine Shed, East Cowes, taken from P&O's Ventura Cruise Ship
Picture taken from the Port side of P&O's Cruise Ship Ventura, on the way out of Southampton, heading off for her first visit to Norway. The Columbine Shed was built by Saunders Roe for the construction of Flying Boats. Latterly it was owned by the British Hovercraft Corporation but is now waiting to be re-developed into apartments and offices. The Union Flag, reputedly the largest in the world, was first painted on the Hangar Doors in 1977 to celebrate the Queen's Silver Jubilee.
