Tangmere churchyard, West Sussex
The war graves are connected to the nearby Battle of Britain airfield. The closest are those of German aircrew shot down in the early part of the battle. The graves in the background, many more of them, were British and Commonwealth aircrew. They were all so young...

Tangmere Churchyard
This sizeable section of St Andrew's churchyard is devoted to the graves of airmen associated with nearby RAF Tangmere - one of the principal Battle of Britain airfields. The small row at the far end marks the graves of German airmen.

Tangmere Churchyard
This is just a few of the graves in Tangmere churchyard belonging to airmen from nearby RAF Tangmere killed in the Second World War. The one on the immediate left is dedicated, poignantly, to 'an airman of the 1939-1945 war'.
