Tangmere Road, Tangmere
The stone at the junction of Tangmere Road and Church Lane was erected in 1976 to commemorate Tangmere Airfield, an RAF base that played a pivotal role in the Battle of Britain. The RAF has no presence here now and the airfield has gone, but there is a museum occupying part of the site devoted to military aircraft and the history of RAF Tangmere.
