Turnchapel Banners
These are two of a series of banners produced by the people of Turnchapel as a contribution to the Plymouth 1620 Project - a celebration marking 400 years since the departure of the Mayflower from Plymouth to the New World. Unfortunately the extensive programme of events planned by the city of Plymouth for 2020 had to be severely curtailed due to the Covid-19 pandemic but at least these colourful banners have been completed and displayed. These two were designed by Sarah Lee and depict contrasting styles of passenger-carrying ships that sailed from Plymouth: the Mayflower on the right in 1620 and Brittany Ferries' Pont Aven on the left in 2020.
