Blisland: tree-lined track
It descends into a valley and then climbs again to Durfold and Poldue. It must once have served the extensive Durfold china clay works on the valley floor, which were active here from 1864 to at least 1925. The site was developed by Frank Parkyn, who came to own clay works at Carwen, Durfold, Glynn Valley, Burnt Heath and Temple. He was a great exponent of water power and Temple had a 50 ft diameter water wheel, installed second hand from the Isle of Man in 1919. It is now, many years later, restored and back at its original site at Snafell

Blisland: site of old tramway
Durfold china clay works operated in the valley below this field. After World War I - over 90 years ago - a now vanished narrow-gauge tramway brought the processed clay up from the valley floor on an inclined plane. It was lightly laid, single-track, and no trace was evident in 2011

Blisland: river near Durfold
Water from this tributary of the River Camel once powered a 50 ft waterwheel just upstream from this view. The wheel inefficiently pumped China clay pits 2½ miles away at Temple, via flat rods. It later powered a generator to work electric pumps - a more efficient solution. Years later, after a sojourn in pieces on a mining museum site near Aberystwyth, the wheel has been restored at its original location, at Snafell, on the Isle of Man

Wooded valley near Blisland
Several former industrial sites are hidden in the woods, glowing in late afternoon sunshine. The farm at Durford, where the house is listed https://www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1146409 , is almost hidden behind the tree to the left of the telegraph pole. On the horizon are Trehudreth Downs.

Stone Stile SX1173
At the western end of FP No. 10, below the Blisland to Metherin lane, about a mile east of the village. A poorly maintained, little used stile giving access into a field.
West Side: 1 step and a top stone.
East Side: A slope up from a wooden stile, then 3 wide steps (earth covered) - or perhaps the slope covers a 4th wide stone - with a wide, flattish stone on top butting against the top stone on the west side.
Public footpath 503/10/1 bronze Blisland to Lower Metherin.
