St Issey Church
As with many Cornish village St Issey is named after the patron saint of the church. In this case, St Issey (or Itha or Ida) was an Abbess born in Ireland around 480 AD. This gives the church here, situated on a mound at the centre of the village, quite a long history although the building here today is the result of a rebuilding of the church in 1871 with only fragments of any previous building remaining.
