A house by the roadside and china clay waste tip
For every ton of china clay produced there are 9 tons of waste material. This grassed tip is the southern end of a "great wall" which stretches from here north and west for several miles hiding the huge china clay pits behind.

Lanjeth
Lanjeth is a ribbon village strung out along minor roads to the south of the Blackpool China Clay Works. This photograph, taken from a railway bridge, shows the eastern end of the village.
