Carved stone post by the A390, in parish of St Austell (Restormel District), Holmbush Road, 200m East of railway bridge, above modern houses, on North side of road. St Austell Roman stone, erected by the St Austell & Lostwithiel turnpike trust in the 18th century. Inscription reads:- ST AUSTEL Ii TRURO XV Carved bench mark on lower face. Grade II Listed. Nose to tail travelling east.
The bridge over the road carries the main Cornwall railway line, which seems like a quicker way of getting home than joining this traffic. This is the A390 which runs through the southern side of St Austell and carries a lot of local commuter traffic.
