Albert Road
This road was originally known as Navy Row when it was built in the 19th century to service the expanded naval dockyard at the bottom of the hill. It is now as diverse a street as you can hope to imagine. Here you can buy beer in one of its 4 pubs, repent your sins in the church, get your hair cut, furnish your house in its many second hand shops or put it all in hock at the pawnbroker. You can borrow books at the library, get your car fixed at the garage, buy food in its mini marts, get at least three different varieties of take-away food, buy a motor-cycle or a camera in specialist shops or even get a palm reading in the psychic shop. If you want to live on this road you have a choice of large town house, small flat (private, council or housing association) or expensive apartment. It's all here on this quarter of a mile of road in what many people would call the "wrong" side of town.
