Mine Chimney in Danescombe Valley
This mine chimney, hidden amongst the trees in the Danescombe Valley was part of the Calstock and Danescombe Mines which produced mainly arsenic in the early years of the 20th century. The engine house nearby has been renovated and converted to residential use.

National Trust Cottages, Danescombe
In the 19th century Danescombe was busy with mining activity and the mine manager lived in the white house seen here. The valley is now National Trust owned and these buildings are available as holiday homes.

Danescombe Valley Mine Buildings
The nearer building is believed to have been the mine counting house and the one behind it the engine house for an adjacent mine shaft with its chimney a little way up the hill behind. Both houses have now been converted for use as National Trust holiday accommodation.

Danescombe Mine by Night
A former producer of Copper and Arsenic, the mine buildings were in ruins until conversion in the 1970s turned part of the site into a holiday home. Danescombe Mine is available for hire from the Landmark Trust.
