Twelfth century font - Lifton church
This magnificent font has arcading decoration around the sides and an ancient sculptured face on each corner.

Church tower of St Mary the Virgin
The church tower has four crocketted pinnacles. St Mary's lies right against the gridline which runs behind the church from this view. The yew trees are prolific.

Memorial (detail) - Lifton church

Royal coat of arms - Lifton church
These royal coat of arms belong to William IV, third son of George III, who reigned from 1830 until 1837. Victoria succeeded him as he had no legitimate heirs although he did have ten illegitimate children. After the Restoration of Charles II royal coats of arms became compulsory in churches but many of these have disappeared over the years.
