Former pub, Ker Street, Plymouth
Tucked away behind Foulston's town hall was the Crown and Column. Late Georgian. Grade II listed. It is due to be converted to flats. One hopes a plaque is retained as it recalls the building's origins as a "lodge and boarding house for stonemasons working on the new dockyard".

Former town hall, Ker Street, Plymouth
Its mighty Greek Doric portico facing down the street, the old town hall is one of only three of John Foulston's civic buildings to have survived. Dating from 1821-24, "they deserve to be cherished, for they are among the most remarkable of their date". It is unfortunate therefore that they now stand "pathetically isolated amid drab post-war reconstruction". Grade I listed. It has been restored in recent years and is now in some sort of community use. Presiding over affairs is Britannia (1835, by J. Panzetta).
