Grand Hotel apartments
The Grand Hotel was opened in 1879, designed by local architect George Wightwick, in a prime position overlooking Plymouth Sound. In 2003 it suffered a major fire and the combination of fire damage and water damage left it in ruins. However developer Devington Homes, who had been responsible for the Azure development on the adjacent site (see Image), carried out a major redevelopment in to apartments, restoring (or where that was not possible, replicating) the original features. The parkland of the Hoe slopes down to the road above the waters of Plymouth Sound. Behind the park are a number of large hotels.

Mid C19th - what a difference twenty or so years makes (cf Image]). Grade II* listed.
Further along is the Grand Hotel, perhaps a decade or two later. Grade II listed.
