Caledonian Canal memorial plaque
Essentially a tribute to Thomas Telford's achievements here, the plaque was installed by the side of the canal in the 250th anniversary year of his birth. I expect the exact choice of the 4th July rather than Telford's birthday in August is connected to the American involvement.
