Abernethy Parish Church
There has been some form of Christianity at Abernethy for well over 1,000 years and may even have stretched back further to the days of St. Columba in the 6th. century. An Augustian monastery did exist, in the 12th. century, before giving way to a collegiate church held in the hands of the Angus Douglas family. That church fell in to ruin following the Reformation in 1560. That church was finally replaced in 1802 by the present kirk.
