Church of Scotland on King's Place at the corner with Scott Street and overlooking South Inch. St Leonard's-in-the-Fields is a fine example of the late Gothic revival style with outstanding architectural features of the crown tower and the heavy buttresses.

St Leonard's-in-the-Fields from King James Place
A classic example of the late Gothic revival on the north edge of the South Inch. When I used to drive through Perth many years ago, I mistakenly assumed from a distance that this must be the burgh's historic parish church, doubtless misled by the remarkable crown spire which reminded me of St. Giles in Edinburgh and which I assumed to be from the same period - testament to the historical authenticity of the design by London architect, John Stevenson. In fact, the church dates from 1885.
