Find and fix the pavement snowplough
The blue van in the foreground is a "Find and Fix" van operated by Tayside Contracts, normally for minor road and pavement repairs. The squad have come to the aid of a pavement snowplough / gritter which has got stuck in a pile of compressed snow thrown up from the roadway. If only the ploughs could actually remove the stuff instead of just moving it around! Pedestrians are having to step out into the roadway to get past the obstruction.

Lord Chancellor Hay's Monument
This monument dating from 1634 is inside the Kinnoull Aisle, the only remaining part of the 16th century Kinnoull Kirk which was replaced in the 1830s by the current Kinnoull Parish Church, a little further north on the river bank. An early example of Scottish funerary art, the monument is a memorial to the 1st Earl of Kinnoull, a courtier, King's Chancellor, industrialist and politician. There is an interpretative panel in the building which provides interesting insights into the symbols used.
