Inverness and Perth Junction Railway
The Dava Way uses the trackbed of the Inverness and Perth Junction Railway between Grantown and Forres. This was the original line to Inverness and here it is approaching the ornate bridge over the A939 and site of a private halt for Castle Grant.

Castle Grant North Lodge Railway Bridge
This ornamental railway bridge was built for the Inverness & Perth Junction Railway. The segmental-arch bridge was designed to mimic the appearance of a castle gatehouse with a castellated parapet flanked on both sides by a faux-turret buttress. The bridge also has wing-walls projecting from the buttresses which terminate in circular piers, adding to the effect. The line between Aviemore and Forres was opened on 1st June 1863 and operated for more than a century, closing on 18 October 1965. The route of the railway line is now used as the pedestrian footpath/cycleway, the Dava Way.
