Grantown's Bell Tower
The bell was originally housed in the clock tower in the Speyside orphanage in the square, now converted to flats. The clock & bell were removed in the 1980's. Money raised locally for the relief of wounded soldiers in the Napoleonic wars, but never sent, was originally used to purchase the clock & bell. The bell was used to call the worshippers & alert people to the opening of the local shops.In 2006 the clock was restored to working order & is now in the museum nearby & also to build this campanile.

Castle Road is on the route of the A939 as it heads out of Grantown-on-Spey in the Cairngorms National Park.
This image was taken on a wet day in late April. Spring daffodils were in bloom in the roadside flower container.
