Steam train passing the Strathspey Railway sheds
This train is returning from Boat of Garten, approaching Aviemore station. It is hauled by the steam locomotive 46512 "E.V. Cooper Engineer", running tender first. It is passing by the Strathspey Railway's main sheds - a carriage storage shed on the left, and a carriage maintenance shed on the right.

Inside the Aviemore engine shed
This locomotive shed was built in 1898, for the Highland Railway's main lines to Perth, Forres and Inverness. It is a Category B listed building: https://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB43492 The shed is now the Strathspey Railway's main workshop, used for repairs and overhauls of a variety of heritage steam and diesel locomotives. In this photo, to the left is Caledonian Railway 0-6-0 No 828, built in 1899. To the right is LMS Black Five 4-6-0 No 5025. It is partway through a complete overhaul, with much of it being rebuilt or replaced. Behind that is a Class 26 diesel locomotive.
