Northbound train leaving Kingussie
It seemed that the level crossing barriers were down for the whole time that the train was in the station, even though the road was quite clear. But I suppose that they have to be closed when the train approaches, in case of an 'overshoot'.

Footbridge and level crossing at Kingussie station
In some ways it's nice to see the traditional signal box but it is also an indication of a lack of modernisation investment on the Highland main line to Inverness. The old style semaphore signal just visible under the footbridge is further evidence of this.

The Grampian Highlander
The Grampian Highlander run by Pathfinder Tours runs south through Kingussie Station:- https://www.pathfindertours.co.uk/events/the-grampian-highlander/ Two class 50 locomotives - 50 007 Hercules and 50 049 Defiance pull this 13 carriage special. It is thought that no class 50 has ever been on these rail lines.
