View across Perth
Looking towards the distant snow-covered hills from the Pitheavlis car park, the white building of Perth Academy with its central clock tower is prominent. Just below the horizon at the right of the picture (between the bare silver birches) it is just possible to make out the recently-erected turbines at Drumderg wind farm Image

Pitheavlis office building
Looking down at the main entrance. The building is stepped into the hillside, with the entrance on the fourth floor. To further blend it into its surroundings in accordance with planning regulations, rooftop gardens were planted (and are still maintained) on the lower floors. The building was completed in June 1983 as the head office of General Accident. The architects were James Parr and Partners of Dundee. For a close up of the water features next to the entrance see Image

Ronald Rae statue
This ten ton granite statue, 'Return of the Prodigal', was commissioned in 1983 by General Accident for their new world headquarters in Perth, now part of the Aviva group. It has recently been moved from its original position to the other side of the main driveway. Rae used the parable of the prodigal son to depict General Accident's motto 'I warn and I protect'. The cottages in the background are on the other side of Necessity Brae. http://www.ronaldrae.co.uk
