Pictish Hut Circle
As the panel explains, "From about 1,000BC inhabitants lived & farmed in the upland areas as well as the more fertile low plains.Houses tended to be circular in design & the outline of the stone foundations can be clearly seen. A ring of upright posts & low wall supported a roof of heather & brush. There were no windows but the large door faced SE away from the prevailing wind & to admit light."
