A cold day, temperatures in the area were as low as -17C. The train the photo was taken from stopped here for 2 hours so we could admire the view!

Redundant sidings at Blair Atholl
These sidings don't appear to have been used for many years but have been left in situ. Blair Atholl steam locomotive shed is at the end of the yard. It was also closed many years ago but has since had an industrial use.

Blair Atholl Station and a Down diesel-hauled freight
View eastward, towards Perth etc. Diesels were just taking over on this line; this Down Class 7 freight is headed by BR/Sulzer 1,160 hp Type 2 No. D5120. The dominant mountain is Ben Vrackie (2,757 ft.).
