The Old Post House, Fortingall
The appearance of Fortingall dates back not much more than a century, since the village was in a poor state before the rebuilding inspired by the new owner of the Glen Lyon Estate Sir Donald Currie in 1885. The Old Post House is one of the new buildings from that period. There is a Flush Bracket on the wall of the Old Post House now hidden behind cotoneaster. It was used during the second and third Geodetic Levelling of Scotland. Its height is 420.2310 feet.http://www.bench-marks.org.uk/bm18025

Thatched cottages in Fortingall
According to Wikipedia "The thatched cottages are notable examples of a planned village built in vernacular style (here combining both Lowland Scottish and English influences, notably from Devon) and are increasingly appreciated as one of the most important examples of 'arts and crafts' vernacular style in Scotland."

Fartairchill
People have been living in Fortingall (Fartairchill in Gaelic) for thousands of years but the village we see today dates mainly from the nineteenth century. In 1885, Fortingall and the surrounding Glen Lyon estate was purchased by Sir Donald Currie, a shipping magnate from Greenock, who commissioned James MacLaren, and then Robert Dunn and William Watson to make their architectural visions a reality in this part of Highland Perthshire.
