The funnel of the "Alma" in the middle right after being delivered to the old mill
In 1973, when chatting to the owner of this craft shop, I commented on some bits of wreckage he had in the garden. These were from the steam ship "Alma" and he said that he would really like to have the funnel which lay among the remains of the ship on its launch-slip on the island in Loch Tay - http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3913784. I spent many an idle moment during the following months wondering how this could be achieved and the following year, with the help of some boys from Broughty Ferry Crusaders, we delivered the funnel to his door. I have to admit that we didn't say anything in advance in case we lost it in the middle of the loch. We were rewarded with coffee and large slices of home-made cake!
