There are several Roman roads in the vicinity, but this road is of more recent origin, probably built around 1941 to serve Findo Gask when it was an RAF aerodrome.

Clathymore housing
Executive houses built on the site of Clathymore Farm, a level tract of land which was used by the RAF during and after WW2 as Findo Gask aerodrome. See Image 'In another life' this Geographer remembers piloting Tiger Moth aircraft to land in and take off again from this grass airfield.

Remains of WW2 Control Tower Clathymore
Remains of the 3 storey control tower at the site of the former Findo Gask Airfield. This operated during World War II as a base for Polish fighter squadrons.
