Old milemarker
This fence post on the A924 by the little stream below Mains of Dounie has been painted to represent a milemarker. BL is for Blairgowrie to the south. There may have been a metal milepost at this site at one time but MS is not marked on the 1980 OS 50 000. Five metal posts are still in situ south of here on the road to Blairgowrie.

Old milemarker
This is the Kirkmichael side of the fence post being used as a milemarker. Many years ago, perhaps in the 1970s or 80s there was a metal Perthshire milepost in or near Kirkmichael with the legends 13/TO/BLAIR=/GOWRIE on the left face, 12¼/TO/PIT=/LOCHRY on the right face and TO CALLY/7 on the bevel.
