The hoverfly Syrphus ribesii, Rattray, Blairgowrie
Three members of the migratory genus Syrphus are commonly recorded in Britain, but they are very difficult to separate in the field. This individual can be identified as it is a female (the eyes don't meet) with a yellow hind femur, a combination which enables it's identification.
