'No through road' signs on the old A1, Stilton
This is the Roman Ermine Street, later the Great North Road, and continues dead straight until it is severed by the A1(M). (I thought that these would be in Image, but is seems not. Bah!)

Stilton Post Office
Located in High Street onto which you could add historically Old Great North Road and Ermine Street. Location, Location.

Ornate Pub Sign at The Bell, Stilton.
This was a coaching halt on the Great North Road but has now been by-passed by the A1. Note the very wide street, wide enough for a market. The road to the south of the village is now pedestrianized. Stilton cheese was never made here but the name is applied to this cheese from the surrounding area.
