Conington village sign
The nearby airfield was actually called Glatton (and is now Peterborough Airport (Conington)) rather than Conington because there is another Conington off the A14, also in the present Cambridgeshire and also having had an airfield. This way it was hoped that confusion for pilots would be avoided. The village sign features a flying fortress, representing the airfield, and the magnificent church. These attractive metal signs are quite common in what used to be Huntingdonshire and the Soke of Peterborough - see for example http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2397386 and http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2445771
