Blakeborough foundry; a street water pillar
The water pillar which works off the pressurised mains. It has been suggested that the knob to operate it used to be in the centre with the outlet just below.

The function of this object is assumed in the title but I may be wrong. It may be unusual to see Blakeborough's products so far from Yorkshire, and I do not recall seeing anything like this in their catalogue.

Typhus memorial
Outside St Mary's Church: These gates were erected by the Reverend the Vicar W.B.I. Estcourt and his parishioners to remind the living and in memory of the dead. During five months AD 1852 out of 150 sick, twenty persons died of typhus fever. "He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men" - Lamentations 3.33
