St Edmund's church in Hunstanton
The first stone for St Edmund's church > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1947005 was laid in 1865, the architect being F Preedy, and a year later the building was opened as a church. A west porch was added in 1874. The new church was dedicated in 1872 and its consecration took place in 1903. The architectural style is similar to early Decorated with the windows having geometrical tracery > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1947014. The walls are of local carstone faced externally with flint and red chalk. The font > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1947041 in the west porch is believed to date from the 15th century. It came from the chapelry of St Giles, Whittingham Manor, Fressingfield, Suffolk. The stained glass windows in the nave was installed between 1912 and 1966.
