Amy Robsart Hall
Amy Robsart was the wife of Robert Dudley, Elizabeth I's favourite. She died, in mysterious circumstances but conveniently for Dudley, falling down stairs in 1560 at Cumnor Place near Abingdon when she was just 20 years old. The full story and the speculation about whether this was murder, suicide or an accident, can be found at http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/Bios/AmyRobsart.htm. And the connection with Syderstone? Amy Robsart was daughter of Sir John Robsart, Lord of the Manor of Syderstone.
