Airey Houses in Station Road, Dersingham
For a wider view of this location see > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2584987. The depicted cottages represent a style of prefabricated houses built after the 2nd World War, designed by Sir Edwin Airey for the Ministry of Works emergency factory-made housing programme, named "Airey Houses" after the designer. A frame of prefabricated concrete columns was reinforced with tubing recycled from the frames of military vehicles. A series of ship-lap style concrete panels, tied back to the columns, formed the external envelope. Many of these houses are now in disrepair.
